1 Original War Diary of the Corps HQ was lost in Greece.
2 Main party departed Melbourne on 13 August 1940 and travelled to Egypt via Adelaide, Fremantle, Singapore, Colombo and Bombay and arrived at Suez on 30 September 1940
3 While in Bombay, the men were inspected by Maj-General Butler, GOC Bombay District
4 All personnel appointments with the exception of the GOCinC date from the official date of the formation of the Corps HQ on 1 May 1940. There were many changes prior to that as for some time, the HQ functions of 2 AIF were carried out by HQ 6 Australian Infantry Division (while in Australia) and possibly also HQ 7 Australian Infantry Division
5 The actual date of conversion to 1 Australian Army was 15 April 1942, but the date gazetted was 6 April 1942. Ditto for the conversion of Southern Command to I Australian Corps.
