Battalion was assigned originally to be part of 17 Canadian Infantry Brigade on 18 March 1942, but was re-assigned to 19 Canadian Infantry Brigade on 12 May 1942. 17 Canadian Infantry Brigade did not start operating until 12 June 1942. |

On 21 May 1942, 585 officers and men left Niagara for New York to escort prisoners of war to Ozada, Alberta and then on to Vernon, British Columbia where they would join the rest of the battalion |

However the weekly "Field Return of Officers" forms indicate that Major Bricker was officially CO until 21 Feb 1944. Major Bricker was also promoted Lt-Colonel and sent to command 1 Battalion The Midland Regiment. |
