1 Originally raised in 1860 as companies of the Argyllshire Rifle Volunteer Corps.
2 In 1861, reorganised as 1 Administrative Battalion Argyllshire Rifle Volunteers
3 In 1880, reorganised as 1 Argyllshire (Argyllshire Highland) Rifle Volunteers
4 In July 1881, the Corps full title was originally Princess Louise's (Sutherland and Argyll Highlanders), this soon became Princess Louise's (Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders)
5 In January 1921, the official title of the Regiment was changed to be The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Princess Louise's).
