The origin of this Corps is a bit confusing. It was formed from Corps Kaupisch which had originally been designated 1 Frontier Sector Command (which dated back to 1934); however Corps Kaupisch was used to help form Military Commander Danzig-West Prussia which later became Wehrkreis XX. Once the formation of WK XX was completed, the staff of Corps Kaupisch were used to form this Corps HQ. |
