Joslen is ambiguous on the number of this battery, he has both 1 (Gold Coast) and 2 (Gold Coast) Batteries. He states clearly in the notes for 4 (Gold Coast) Infantry Brigade that 2 (Gold Coast) Lt Battery became part of 2 and 12 (Africa) Divisions while serving in East Africa. However, there is no mention of 2 Battery only 1 (Gold Coast) Lt Battery. Since there was another 1 (Nigeria) Lt Battery serving with 3 (Nigeria) Infantry Brigade, I am going to assume that the correct Battery Number is 2!! |
